• Mango Languages an online language-learning system that can help you learn languages like Spanish, French, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, German, Mandarin Chinese, Greek, Italian, Russian, or English.  Available from home--set up an account with your email address, and library barcode and select a password.

• The New York Times on Microfilm from 1851 to the present is available at the main library.  There is an index on the New York Times archives site at http://query.nytimes.com/search .  Digital microfilm, with the full image of the daily paper is now available online. This digital version is available  for dates December 2008 up to near the current date (2- 3 months delay in digital delivery). News -- Maine

• The Maine News Index Online includes abstracts and citations for articles from Portland and Maine periodicals which Portland Public Library's Portland Room staff have compiled since 1993.

• Maine Newsstand (via MARVEL) offers indexing for the Portland Press Herald (from 1995), the Bangor Daily News and other Maine newspapers.  Full text is available for most articles.
