National Novel Writing Month Film Series

To celebrate National Novel Writing Month in November, the Portland Public Library presents a film series about writers.  Join us for three films that center around writing a book.  Each film will be shown in the Rines Auditorium from 7:30-9:00pm.

Nov. 7: Adaptation
Rated R.  114 minute running time.
A love-lorn script writer grows increasingly desperate in his quest to adapt the book The Orchid Thief.  Starring Nicolas Cage, Meryl Streep, and Chris Cooper.

Nov. 14: Shadowlands

C.S. Lewis, a world-renowned Christian theologian, writer and professor, leads a passionless life until he meets a spirited poet from the U.S. Starring Anthony Hopkins, Debra Winger and Julian Fellowes.

During his research for his book In Cold Blood, an account of the murder of a Kansas family, Truman Capote develops a close relationship with Perry Smith, one of the killers.  Starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Clifton Colling Jr., and Catherine Keener.
