The opera itself will be premiered in an unstaged concert performance on May 8, at Merrill Auditorium, at 7:30pm, in a co-production by Portland Ovations and the University of Southern Maine. Dan’s program on Peaks will be on Tuesday, April 8, 7 pm in the Community Room. Co-sponsored by the Library and the Peaks Island Music Association.

Daniel Sonenberg is the composer of The Summer King – An Opera in Two Acts on the Life of Josh Gibson – and numerous other works of chamber, larger ensemble, and vocal music. He lives in Portland, Maine, and is Associate Professor and Resident Composer at the University of Southern Maine.
