For Libraries Outside the Southern Maine Library DistrictPortland Public Library lends all circulating materials, including AV, via interlibrary loan. The fastest way to borrow our materials is to request via OCLC (our symbol is PPN) or use the appropriate form below. One request per form, please. This page is intended for library-to-library lending requests. Are you a PPL patron making a request for yourself? Please visit Patron Requesting instead. We also accept requests via US Mail (using a standard ALA form). Our mailing address is Interlibrary Loan, Portland Public Library, 5 Monument Square, Portland, ME 04101.
Notice regarding lost or damaged materialsBy making an interlibrary loan request, the borrowing library agrees to act in good faith to return loans in a timely manner in good condition, and to accept financial responsibility for the materials that are lost or damaged on your watch. Portland Public Library reserves the right to bill your institution for materials that are damaged, lost in the mail, or never returned. If your patron loses or damages a Portland Public Library book, your library will be charged a replacement fee that includes a $10 processing fee. If your patron wishes to provide a replacement copy of the lost book, the replacement must meet the following criteria: 1. The replacement must have the same ISBN as the lost/damaged item. 2. The replacement must be brand new. 3. The $10 processing fee must be paid. Please contact us at ill@portland.lib.me.us or (207) 871-1735 before sending a replacement copy.
