Special Events for Children & Young Adults!   For more information about any of our events, call the Children Services Department at (207) 871-1700 x707. ____________________________________________________________________ Summer Reading: Paws, Claws, Scales, and Tales  June 19 - August 12, 2006 Sign up at the Main Library or any one of our Branches. Read 8 books or 8 hours and be eligible for a prize drawing in August. There will be weekly programs, trivia contests, and more. Be sure to Paws for Reading this summer! Teens and adults are eligible to join the program too!  Wednesday Summer Reading Program Schedule  (events held at the Main Library Children's Services room unless otherwise noted): ____________________________________________________________________ Spark's Ark   Wednesday, June 21st   10:30am Meet David Sparks and some of his animal friends. Learn about wild animals and their habitats.  ____________________________________________________________________ Animal Refuge League Wednesday, June 28th 10:30am For nearly a century, the Animal Refuge League (ARL) has been an advocate for the humane and ethical treatment of animals. Learn some great pet tips and about the work of this organization. Perhaps there will be a furry visitor. ____________________________________________________________________ Story time with Mrs. Maine June 24th 11:00am Mrs. Maine USA 2006, Elizabeth Hamilton-Guarino, will be presenting Story Time on Sturday, June 24th at 11:00am in the Children's Department. She is the ambassador to Maine Reads and is touring the state reading aloud to children.
