Maria Testa,
author of Something About America
Award-winning novelist
and poet Maria Testa will discuss her latest verse novel for readers 12
years and older, Something About America. The novel about a
Portland middle school student who immigrated with her family from
Kosova centers on her parent's different perspectives on America and the
ugly incident in nearby Lewiston that makes the whole family reassess
their relationship with this country. Testa will review the real
incident between the mayor of Lewiston and the Somali-American community
in 2002, her friendship with refugees from the Balkan Wars, and the
influence of these events on her fiction.

Jeff Kinney recalls the growing pains of school life and introduces a

Laura Numeroff is the

Los Angeles, California, where she loves to ride horses, read
biographies, and play with her pets.
