  • Value Line is an investment management solution, providing in-depth financial information, objective research, and advanced analytical tools for new and experienced investors to make timely, better-informed investment decisions.   • For practice tests and other job seeking skills, visit the LearningExpress Library, a collection of tools providing online job, career, and computer training resources as well as skill-building courses, exercises, and practice exams for ASVAB, Civil Service, SAT,  U.S. Citizenship and more. Set up a user name and password and return to the test at any time. The site is divided into sections by the type of skill or practice test you want to pursue.   • The New York Times on Microfilm from 1851 to the present is available at the main library.  There is an index on the New York Times archives site at http://query.nytimes.com/search Digital microfilm, with the full image of the daily paper is now available online. This digital version is available  for dates December 2008 up to near the current date (2- 3 months delay in digital delivery). For home use, click here and enter your library card number.  For in library use, click here, no library card required.

  • Proquest Newspapers, for more recent articles from the New York Times and other national and regional newspapers such as the Boston Globe, use Proquest, part of the MARVEL databases 

  • Global Issues in Context is a colorful wealth of resources explaining the background and viewpoints necessary for understanding global issues, conflicts, and events.

  • Opposing Viewpoints in Context is an online resource covering today's hottest social issues - helps students research, analyze, and organize a broad variety of data for conducting research, completing writing assignments, preparing for debates, creating presentations and more.

 

News -- Maine

  • The Maine News Index Online includes abstracts and citations for articles from Portland and Maine periodicals which Portland Public Library's Portland Room staff have compiled since 1993.

  • Maine Newsstand (via MARVEL) offers indexing for the Portland Press Herald (from 1995), the Bangor Daily News and other Maine newspapers.  Full text is available for most articles.
