Marine Mammals of Maine (MMoME) will present “A Seal’s Journey”, an illustrated talk which explores their work responding to and assessing animals in the field, the natural history and identification of seal species, and a look inside MMoME’s unique seal triage and rehabilitation center. Follow a seal’s journey from stranding to release, and all of the obstacles in between. Learn whether it’s normal for seals to be out of the water, why you might see a baby on its own and when and why seals assistance.

Marine Mammals of Maine is a fast- growing nonprofit organization dedicated to marine mammal and sea turtle response, rescue, care, research and education. With two staff and a dedicated volunteer team, MMoME provides expert stranding response across roughly 2,500 miles of Maine’s coastline (including islands), covering the geographic area of Kittery to Rockland.

This event will take place in the Peaks Island Community Room and is geared towards children age 7 – adults.
