BooktoberFest: Portland Ovations Offstage Workshop

Saturday, October 14 - 10:30am - 11:30am
Location: Main Library
Audience: Kids & Families

In celebration of Portland Public Library’s BooktoberFest, the Sam L. Cohen Children’s Library will be hosting Portland Ovations Offstage. They will be presenting a workshop based on their upcoming performances at Merrill Auditorium of two & beloved picture books, I Love My Little Storybook and Guess How Much I Love You.

In I Love my Little Storybook, an eager little bunny lies on the grass and opens his book, and within moments the story he’s reading comes alive in fascinating detail. From author Anita Jeram, comes this endearing celebration of the imagination and joy of reading. In Sam McBratney’s Guess How Much I Love You,  (illustrated by Anita Jeram) during a bedtime game, every time Little Nutbrown Hare demonstrates how much he loves his father, Big Nutbrown Hare gently shows him that the love is returned even more.

Portland Ovations Offstage Teaching Artists will be leading participants in an exploration of the worlds of these two classic children’s books. There will be a read aloud of the stories and then children will be able to make the characters come alive by creating their own headpiece of an animal in one of the stories.
