Knit for Your Neighbors – Collection Site

Wednesday, November 14 - Monday, December 31
10:00am - 5:00pm

Location: Main Library
Audience: Adults

Starting November 14th through December 31st, Portland Public Library will be collecting handmade and new with tag* hats, mittens, and scarves of all sizes to distribute to those who need these items during cold snaps. Each item will include a tag that has information on signs of hypothermia.

If you’re interested in donating items, please bring them to the Research Desk on the Lower Level of the Main Library starting November 14th. All of the items collected will support the Need A Hat, Take A Hat program where the items will be given to Children and Adult library patrons who need them.

*We cannot accept used items for this program, but encourage you to donate your unwanted used items in good condition to local agencies such as Preble Street, The Root Cellar, and Good Cause Thrift Shop.

To kick off our event, the library will host a Sit n’ Knit event on second Wednesday of November, 11/14 from 4-7pm in the Atrium. Join us for tea, conversation, crocheting, and knitting!
