2020 Teacher Resources

The staff at the Sam L. Cohen Children’s Library are offering several resources for teachers this school year:

Our SEED card program has extended digital cards to all elementary, middle, and high school students in Portland schools. This allows students to access online books, audiobooks, and databases from our collection.

We are also providing personalized reading lists from our collection with Your Next Great Read: Kids and Families, great for teachers who need suggestions for certain topics or subjects.

Teachers can also now check out our book totes–red plastic bins with 15-20 titles on a particular subject. These books are most suited for the topics of preschool and primary school students. A list of subjects and titles can be found here, but please know that these totes are first come, first serve, so flexibility may be needed in order to get a tote. We will be removing all extension materials from our totes at this time, due to concerns about quarantining and sanitizing materials. If you are interested in checking out a tote, please send an email to childrens@portlib.org.

The staff is also available to do a storytime for a class or school group via Zoom. Please contact us by email at childrens@portlib.org if you are interested in this possibility.
