Adult Summer Reading Challenge

June 18-August 12, 2017

Wondering what to read this summer? We’ve got you covered! Take the PPL Adult Summer Reading Challenge and explore a diverse world of genres, authors, formats, and styles.

Register online, download the printable Reading Challenge List, and get started! Be sure to join our Facebook Summer Reading Group for a chance to connect with other Portland readers and win additional prizes every week.

Complete at least 6 of the items on the list by August 12th to qualify, then turn in your completed list to receive a PPL Summer Reading book tote prize.

Maine author Monica Wood

As an added bonus, we have included Maine Humanities Council’s Read ME book picks by Monica Wood on our Summer Reading Challenge List so that you can participate in the statewide summer reading program simultaneously! It’s the perfect way to connect with your neighbors this summer.

Did you know that PPL staff loves to talk about books? Librarians at all of our locations are thrilled to offer book suggestions!

Our Reader’s Advisory staff created some wonderful booklists for Summer Reading inspiration. For more recommendations, connect with us at (207) 871-1700 x705 or fiction@portlandpubliclibrary.org.

And don’t forget to join our Facebook Summer Reading group for continuous virtual booktalk moderated by PPL librarians!

This 8-week program runs from June 18-August 12, 2017. Completed lists will be accepted at all PPL branches August 12-31; prizes available while supplies last.

Where do you read? What is your story? Read with PPL this summer and add your chapter to our story!
