Art Quilts Maine Exhibit

November 28, 2022-February 28, 2023

Children’s Library at the Downtown Branch

Visit the Children’s Library this winter for a cozy and colorful exhibit from Art Quilts Maine! This annual textile arts exhibit brings beautiful  handmade quilts to the Downtown library for all to see and enjoy. This year’s exhibit features two groups of themed quilts and plus one bonus quilt.

Quilts in the Abstract

Finding inspiration in the world of abstract art, 15 artists contributed to this exhibit. Abstract art emphasizes thoughts and feelings over recognizable objects, people, or scenes. Our hope is to elicit thoughts and feelings in you, the viewer.

Food Word

Brenda Sapp Saller invited artists to respond to food-related cues she provided each month. Sweet, salty, acidic, crunchy, smoky, and bitter were a few of the cues. The varied responses ranged from subtle to humorous.

Bonus Quilt: The Masks We Wore

As sewers, we made masks—for ourselves, our loved ones, our community. Along the way we made a few fanciful masks–just for fun
