Dahlov Ipcar: Stories

Dahlov Ipcar: Stories

Dahlov Ipcar’s books are appreciated and revered around the world, but perhaps nowhere more than in Maine where she created, wrote, and illustrated books for over 60 years. While her primary audience is children, her work resonates just as deeply with the adults – parents, teachers, caregivers, friends – who support young readers.

As we mark Portland Public Library’s milestone 150th year, we delighted to celebrate the life and illustration work of Dahlov Ipcar during what would have been her 100th year. Her stories and imaginative illustrations have made a significant contribution to the world of children’s books and captured the imaginations of generations of Maine readers.

Thanks to our exhibit sponsors, Camden National Bank and The Margaret E. Burnham Charitable Trust .
