A company’s physical work environment has a tremendous impact on productivity, profits and employee recruitment and retention. As more firms are drawn to the “agile office” when they move locations or redesign, finding the balance between flexible space, sound level management and a sense of routine can be a challenge. Join a panel of experts for a free discussion of the benefits and detriments to breaking out of the office space box.

Hosted by Business editor Carol Coultas.

Panelists:

Mark Pettengill, CEO, Patrons Oxford Insurance Company

Giovani Twigge, Chief HR Officer, IDEXX and

Please join us for “Lawyers in Libraries” as part of the statewide celebration of “Law Week 2018”. Lawyers from the Maine Bar will be in the Library (Portland Public Library) to provide Mainers with an information session, answer to legal questions, offer legal advice and provide referrals to low cost or free legal services for their issues.  In addition, some attendees will have the opportunity for a brief private consultation with the attorneys about personal legal matters.

Lawyers in Libraries 2018 is FREE.

Date: 05-15-18

Time: 10am – 12pm

Venue: Rines Auditorium.

Gun control, marijuana legalization, sexual harassment: Controversies that dominate the headlines also have an impact on the workplace. This forum will cover how Human Resource departments are responding to legal and cultural shifts that affect employees. Does a workplace need to develop rules around bringing guns to work? How could drug-testing impact employment when marijuana is now legal in the state? And how closely should employers take another look—or even a first—at their harassment policies and disciplinary procedures?

Join us and ask questions of your own, while sharing coffee and light breakfast with Greater Portland’s business community.

This event is free with registration.
