Museum passes

Portland Public Library offers free passes to some local Museums and cultural sites. To request a pass for a specific date, with your Library card, call or visit the Lending Desk at any of our locations.

Maine State Parks Pass   NEW!!! Summer 2015

  • Pass admits occupants of up to a 17 passenger vehicle to day-use facilities of select Maine State Parks and Historic Sites. View participating parks here.
  • Pass is valid for day-use only and does not include camping
  • Each library location offers only one pass, which may be borrowed for up to one week, no renewals
  • 1 pass/patron/month
  • As a courtesy to other patrons, be sure to return the pass on time
  • A $10/day overdue fee will be charged for each day if it is returned late
  • The replacement cost is $70
  • Please note that park passes are not accepted at Baxter State Park, Allagash Wilderness Waterway, Penobscot River Corridor, Penobscot Narrows Observatory, Maine Wildlife Park, Peacock Beach, or Scarborough Beach.

Maine State Museum (Augusta)

  • Pass admits 4 people
  • For families or individuals, but not intended for organized groups such as camps or scouts
  • No limits on how many passes a patron may use

Portland Museum of Art

  • Pass admits up to 2 adults and 6 children for one visit
  • Each library location offers only one pass per day
  • 1 pass/patron/month

Portland Observatory

  • Pass admits 1 person to the Observatory Tour
  • Each library location offers two passes per day
  • 1 pass/patron/month (a patron may request both passes for one day)
  • The Observatory’s season is usually Memorial Day through Columbus Day

Southworth Planetarium (USM Portland Campus)

  • Pass admits up to 6 people
  • For families or individuals, but not intended for organized groups such as camps or scouts
  • Each library location offers only one pass per day
  • 1 pass/patron/month
  • You may use your pass on any day you choose

 Tate House Museum  

Tate House museum

  • Pass admits up to 4 people for one visit
  • For families or individuals, but not intended for organized groups such as camps or scouts
  • Each library location offers only one pass per day
  • 1 pass/patron/month
  • The Tate House is open June through October
