Museum passes

Portland Public Library offers free passes to some local Museums and cultural sites. To request a pass for a specific date, with your Library card, call or visit the Lending Desk at any of our locations.

Maine State Parks Pass

PASS CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE

Pass admits occupants of up to a 17 passenger vehicle to day-use facilities of select Maine State Parks and Historic Sites. View participating parks here.

  • Pass is valid for day-use only and does not include camping
  • Each library location offers only one pass, which may be borrowed for up to one week, no renewals
  • One pass/patron/month* – *New for 2019/2020: Patrons will only be allowed to reserve the Maine State Park pass for one week during the peak summer season (Memorial Day to Labor Day). Patrons may not reserve more than one month prior to date of use.
  • As a courtesy to other patrons, be sure to return the pass on time
  • A $10/day overdue fee will be charged for each day if it is returned late
  • The replacement cost is $104.00
  • Please note that park passes are not accepted at Acadia National Park, Allagash Wilderness Waterway, Baxter State Park, Maine Wildlife Park, Peacock Beach, Penobscot Narrows Observatory, Penobscot River Corridor, Scarborough Beach, Songo Lock or Swan Island

Maine State Museum (Augusta)

  • No limits on how many passes a patron may use

Portland Museum of Art

  • Each library location offers only one pass per day

    • Thursday: noon-8pm
    • Friday: noon-8pm
    • Saturday: noon-6pm
    • Sunday: noon-6pm

Portland Observatory

  • Pass admits one person to the Observatory Tour
  • Each library location offers two passes per day
  • One pass/patron/month (a patron may request both passes for one day)
  • The Observatory’s season is usually Memorial Day through Columbus Day
