Teen Events: the main event happens every day after-school at the main branch. Here teens can collaborate, study, socialize and game. Seating and technology in the Teen Library are reserved for teens only. Mentors and tutors of teens are welcome to join their students to use our study rooms, computers, collections, or ask a Teen staff member for assistance.
In addition to our daily routine, the Teen Library plans a variety of teen events and special programs throughout the year. Check in below for highlights of upcoming events as well as ongoing Teen series.
317 Main Community Center and PPL Teen are joining forces to bring you Drop the Beat, a digital-music creation series for teens at Portland Public Library. Teens are invited to sign-up or drop-in for weekly sessions in November and December. All sessions will be facilitated by local musician and teaching artist Kafari!
Are you a player looking for a D&D group? Are you curious about the game, but never had an opportunity to try? Join us as we explore the secrets of the Sunless Citadel! Game master Megan will start the adventurers off in their search for riches and conquest.
The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is a volunteer and engagement opportunity for middle and high school students. Gain leadership experience and to work together within a large organization to enact change!
Many Voices at PPL Teen is a book group with two purposes: (1) to recognize the need for all teens to see themselves mirrored in the books on our shelves, and to use fiction as a window into other lives, cultures, and worldviews beyond their own; (2) to create a space for the diverse teen voices in our own community to share the books that excite and engage them. Each month is a free-choice read based on a unique theme.
Join us for Teen After Hours on First Fridays! Play video games, watch movies, play board & card games, eat pizza, listen to music, and hang out – without having to stay quiet! Space is limited, so you must register at the teen desk.
